ARNO works alonside the Royal Navy Officers' Charity (RNOC), which provides financial assistance and benevolence to serving and retired officers of the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the Queen Alexandra's Royal Naval Nursing Service, the former Women's Royal Naval Service (and the dependants of families in distress)
The RNOC assist the widows and widowers of officers who
have been killed or died whilst serving, and those who have been
discharged after injury. Assistance is given both
to young and old, to serving and retired officers and to their
dependants.
The RNOC meets a wide range of needs and grants are used for:
- Assistance with training, education and rehabilitation
- Purchase of mobility aids and home adaptions
- Help with car repairs, rent arrears, new white goods
- Care and support for the elderly and for sufferers of dementia and Alzheimer's; also assistance with independent living
- Support Grants for everyday expenses for those on low incomes
The above is just a
sample of the variety of cases where the RNOC is able to provide
financial assistance; each year there is an increase in the
number of cases requesting financial support. During the last three years the RNOC has awarded grants of well in excess of £m.
